![]() ** Tarabon **Both the King's Life Guard and the Panarch's Legion in Tarabon have now been dispersed. No description for the former is available, and little for the Panarch's Legion: "... pointed helmets, their breastplates embossed with a tree painted gold." <TSR: 54, 896, Into the Palace> Under Rodel Ituralde, Taraboners fighting the Seanchan and their Taraboner counterparts brandish steel-tipped lances and wear mail veils across their faces. They use their bows to devastating effect, driving pile-headed arrows through breastplates. Ituralde's men, too, are mounted: Taraboners rarely serve as infantry. Their bows are likely the horsebows described just below. <KoD: Prologue, 30-32, Embers Falling on Dry Grass; also KoD: 7, 197, A Cold Medallion> Taraboners under the Seanchan appear as lancers fighting Rand's combined expeditionary force in TPoD. Their armor that is presumably their own - breastplates are described, not segmented armor - but painted in Seanchan fashion: "... red and green stripes painted across their solid breastplates, veils of mail hiding their thick mustaches." "... breastplates striped horizontally in the colors of the regiments they were attached to." <TPoD: 22, 430, Gathering Clouds; 24, 457, A Time for Iron; see also KoD: 7, 197, A Cold Medallion> Steel veils to protect the face are also described elsewhere <WH: 18, 376, An Offer> Cased horsebows complete their équipage. <KoD: Prologue, 33, Embers Falling on Dry Grass> Off-duty, Taraboner Seanchan auxiliaries wear blue coats with collars striped green. <KoD: 7, 197, A Cold Medallion> One Taraboner, presumably an officer, wears a red-plumed conical helmet; his detachable steel veil is unhooked on one side, and hangs from the other corner. <TPoD: 24, 477, A Time for Iron> |
